# How We Choose: People First, Then Cards

Not every person — and not every card — belongs on Market.Cards. Our selection process is people first, cards second.

**First, we look at the person: the player thesis.** Does this person truly have attention, story, character, performance, and long-term influence? Are they worth believing in over the long term? This is the first gate before we open a market.

**Then, we look at whether the card is a good anchor.** Once the person is clear, we ask whether the card can carry that thesis:

* **Rarity**: rare enough, and meaningfully rare — especially one-of-one — so the market can understand, discuss, and price it more easily.
* **Market relevance**: able to support ongoing discovery, discussion, and trading, rather than being only a static collectible.
